About Jane
Jane set up Findhorn Watersports in 2024, taking a quiet facility at Royal Findhorn Yacht Club and turning it into a working business. It runs RYA sailing and powerboating, instructor training, paddlesports, kit hire and a water taxi, with a team of six and around ten freelance staff.
Jane has worked in the outdoor industry for over 35 years. She was Chief Instructor at Port Edgar Sailing School, then spent sixteen years as Development Manager at RYA Scotland, three as Chief Executive of Snowsport Scotland, and four as Senior Inspector for Scotland at the Adventure Activities Licensing Service (AALA). After that came a spell as interim CEO of Loch Insh, and since 2021 a consultancy practice doing business reviews, strategy, charity conversions and partnership building for outdoor organisations. She was awarded an MBE in 2019 for services to the outdoors in Scotland.
Jane chairs the Scottish Adventurous Activities Forum, which represents outdoor and adventure providers to the Scottish Government on legislation and guidance, and the Scottish Outdoors Consortium. She has sat on boards as a non-executive director, and is technical advisor for sailing and powerboating at Firbush Outdoor Centre.
